October 2026 Astrology Forecast: Venus Retrograde, Mercury Retrograde & Scorpio Season
Two retrogrades, two moons, Pluto direct, and Scorpio season: what each transit is asking of you and how to move through it.
October is mostly a Scorpio and Libra story. Libra is about balance, fairness, and how we show up in partnerships. Scorpio is about intimacy, trust, and what's happening beneath the surface. Add Venus, Mercury, and the Sun to that mix, plus two retrogrades, and the theme of the month is clear: honesty, accountability, and discernment.

Here's every major transit, what it means, and how to work with it.
Venus Retrograde in Scorpio - October 3rd
Venus retrograde in Scorpio is not a light-hearted transit. Scorpio governs intimacy, trust, and shared resources, so Venus here asks a big question: can you be transparent and reciprocal with someone you feel safe with? If the foundation isn't trust, it might be time to walk away.
It's just as much about the relationship you have with yourself. Relationships are mirrors, so if something keeps cropping up in your romantic, platonic, or friend connections, it's your responsibility to reflect on it. Scorpio is also a fixed water sign (think ice), so expect moments where you have to take accountability for your own decisions.

This retrograde calls for vulnerability. Many people say they want a connection where they can be vulnerable, but when they're actually put in that space, it's not easy. Relationships are meant to trigger you, to highlight what you need to heal and show you how to grow alongside someone else.
Reminder: emotional triggers are data meant to help you heal.
Reflection prompts:
Do I see myself with this person long-term?
Can they reciprocate what I'm pouring into this connection?
Am I ignoring red flags just because I want to be with someone?
If you keep finding the same type of person in a different body, that's a clear sign to look at your values and how you show up in connections.
New Moon in Libra - October 10th
The Libra New Moon is a great time to set intentions around having people in your life who reciprocate what you desire in your connections.
Libra placements should be careful not to ride the fence to keep the peace. You can have conflict with someone without ruining the connection. Libras can also be prone to people-pleasing: you want peace, so you don't say what you really feel or speak on what you need. But if you can't show up as your authentic self, people never get to see that special side of you.
This moon also asks for clear terms, so be specific about your needs. Like, what does this specific relationship look like for you? Everyone deserves to be happy, and if people aren't on the same page, they can't be around you. But you can also explore different friend groups. Some people are great for concerts, others for movies or dinner. Look for clear communicators who are open to other perspectives without becoming super triggered. Being triggered is natural, but it should never equal the degradation of the connection.
Libra is the scales, but Libra placements can sometimes get controlling, trying to manipulate how the scale moves in the name of keeping the peace. This New Moon will highlight relationship patterns that no longer serve you or bring any growth into your life.
Pluto Direct in Aquarius - October 15th
Pluto is power and the shift in power. Aquarius is friendships, communities, networks, and collective projects. Now that Pluto is direct in Aquarius, we're seeing the results of the last few months.
Many people have realized that political systems often prioritize those in their own tax bracket or who can make them more money. As a collective, a lot of us have shifted focus to making sure our people are okay. Zohran Mamdani (doing his chart next) in New York is a good example of someone in a position of power putting things in place so more people can access what they need.
While Pluto was retrograde, we got to see what people with power actually do with it. Slicing and dicing programs that people depend on. Moving forward, I think many people won't place others in positions of power because of racism, prejudice, bias, or the delusion of proximity to power. And anyone we do put there has to be able to do things for everybody, because Aquarius is a spider's web. Everything is interconnected. People benefit from systems without recognizing that removing one thing can affect another group, and eventually themselves. Causing destruction because they want to vote against their own interest.
Food is a great example. It's questionable nowadays, so people are gathering seeds (including myself), growing their own, or partnering with someone who can. That's taking power back from systems that made us codependent on them. I expect massive shifts of power back to the people.

Sun in Scorpio - October 23rd
Happy birthday to all my Scorpio babies! On October 23rd, we move from Libra into Scorpio season: boundaries, emotional honesty, and transformation.
Many of us will be doing research and shadow work, analyzing what's happening beneath the surface and getting more transparent with ourselves. A lot of people have been bypassing things with positivity, but there are things in the shadows keeping you from reaching your full potential. The biggest lessons are accountability and discernment: making the best decisions for your growth while considering how they impact others, so you're not creating negative karma for yourself.

I also see Scorpio season as a time of ego death, and not the pop-culture version. Think of your ego as having a shell made of layers, like an onion. You are in the middle. Those layers are what people have projected onto you and what society has taught you. Scorpio pushes everyone to peel them back, like a snake shedding or a scorpion molting.
It won't be comfortable, but you'll be a brand-new person at the end. It's freeing to grow, be your authentic self, and be surrounded by people, places, and things that celebrate you for simply being you. I'd recommend therapy, or at least looking into licensed therapists and doing your own research on what you might be dealing with. This isn't a game, and Scorpio will make you uncomfortable until you're ready to shed the excess baggage.
Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio - October 24th
Mercury retrograde in Scorpio brings us back to conversations, documents, and information, or to situations we need to investigate further before we can verify them as fact. It also shifts our perspective on relationships, on ourselves, on the world, and on our current circumstances. If you're unhappy with something in your life, what could you actually do about it?
Like the Libra New Moon, this transit asks us to communicate our perspectives without being concerned about judgment. It may be uncomfortable, but you deserve to be heard and to not leave things unsaid.
It's also a time to learn what your intuition sounds like. Some people feel it in their belly. Scorpio has intense intuitive knowledge, but be careful not to make someone feel interrogated.
Ways to work with it:
Journal what you're thinking, sensing, and feeling.
Pay attention to what your dreams are telling you.
Listen to intuitive nudges.
Rewrite your narrative and how you see yourself, and build self-trust by staying true to decisions aligned with who you're becoming.
Venus Retrograde Back into Libra - October 26th
Venus retrograde has moonwalked back into Libra, and the questions become: Can I trust this person with a deeper truth? Am I being vulnerable with myself? Am I taking accountability? Is everyone being treated fairly?
Sorry, Libras, I have to whack you again. But a lot of Libra placements are prone to people-pleasing and a false sense of harmony, and can be a bit performative in relationships. This retrograde says we can't just look harmonious. We have to feel it. Everyone's feelings and perspectives need to be considered, and uneven emotional labor deserves serious attention.
Don't fall for the hype, either. Just because you see someone's potential doesn't mean they'll choose to embody it.

Relationships teach lessons the hard way, especially what you absorbed in childhood, like how your parents' dynamic played out. It can resurface in your own connections, or old situations can show up in a new one. Libras sometimes struggle because they define themselves through someone else's eyes. This retrograde, with Scorpio energy, pulls you back to your own understanding of yourself.
Full Moon in Taurus - October 26th
The Taurus Full Moon highlights money, possessions, pleasure, and what makes you feel safe and steady. Because it opposes the Sun in Scorpio, it illuminates the tension between what's mine and what's ours, and asks you to surrender to uncomfortable conversations in order to grow. Some things in your life aren't equating to long-term sustainability.
Just because you're in a romantic situation doesn't mean it holds value. If it can't sustain or benefit you, or increase the value of the connection or of you as a person, it's a chop.
The economy looks weird right now, so this is a good time to make choices that make you more financially literate. I've never met a broke Taurus in my life.
We can have a beautiful, loving, pleasurable experience together, but I always need to be protected and stable. Don't get swept up in the intense emotions. Think of a prenup: it simply ensures you'll be okay if things don't work out. I will never condone pouring your heart and soul into someone without protecting yourself.

That applies at work too. If you're an entrepreneur, it could mean trademarks and protecting your image and products. You are the asset. You are the value in this equation.
Final Thoughts
October asks us to be honest with ourselves, protect our energy, and stop settling for surface-level harmony. Journal, trust your intuition, and let the layers fall away.
